Varicella Vaccination for Adults (2 Doses)

What is Varicella Zoster?
Varicella zoster is the virus that causes chicken pox and Shingles (a reactivation of the virus). Varicella is highly contagious. It is not only transmitted through droplets, aerosol or direct person-to-person contact, but may also be transmitted indirectly through contact with freshly contaminated items.

The symptoms of varicella include fever, lethargy, and an itchy, vesicular rash that starts on the scalp and face and spreads throughout the body. While illness may be mild in children, severity increases with age. Complications include lung infection, brain infection which are potentially lethal. Furthermore, subsequent reactivation later in life leads to Shingles which is more common among immunocompromised and elderly individuals.
